Bekins began operations in Sioux City, Iowa in 1891 with twelve employees, three horse-drawn vans, and one warehouse.

| Lee Bros Van & Storage were Bekins agents from the founding of the company in 1907. By 1918 motorized trucks had replaced the old horse-drawn vans. |
